Southern Fried Chicken Batter

INGREDIENTS:

° 2 cups all-purpose flour
° 2 teaspoons of black pepper
° 2 teaspoons of paprika
° 4 teaspoons of garlic salt
° ½ teaspoon poultry seasoning mix
° 1 cup buttermilk
° 2 beaten eggs

DIRECTIONS




First Step – Prepare the Mixtures:

  1. In one bowl, mix the beaten eggs with buttermilk.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, poultry seasoning, garlic salt, paprika, and black pepper. Transfer this flour mixture into a large Ziploc bag.

Second Step – Coat the Chicken:

  1. Place the chicken pieces into the Ziploc bag with the flour mixture. Shake the bag well to evenly coat all the pieces.
  2. Remove the chicken from the bag and then dip each piece into the egg mixture, ensuring they are well coated.

Third Step – Double Dipping:

  1. Dip each piece of chicken into the flour mixture again, shaking off any excess.
  2. Heat oil in a heavy-bottomed skillet to 375°F (190°C).

Fourth Step – Cooking the Chicken:

  1. Brown the chicken on each side in the heated oil.
  2. After browning, reduce the heat under the skillet.
  3. Continue cooking the chicken for 20 to 30 minutes, depending on the size of the pieces.

Final Steps:

  1. Ensure the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165°F (74°C) before serving.
  2. Drain the cooked chicken on absorbent paper.
  3. Serve the delicious Southern Fried Chicken hot and enjoy!
