Ingredients:

  • ½ pound ground beef
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 Tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • ½ teaspoon cumin
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ¼ teaspoon paprika
  • â…“ cup diced onion
  • ½ 8 oz can of Rotel
  • 1 sheet of puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 cup Mexican blend cheese, shredded
  • Optional Garnishes: lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, salsa, guacamole, green onions, cilantro

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Prepare a baking sheet by spraying it with nonstick spray.
  2. In a skillet, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat until browned. Add diced onion and minced garlic, and continue cooking until the onion is softened and the meat is fully cooked.
  3. Drain any excess fat from the skillet.
  4. Stir in the chili powder, salt, pepper, cumin, onion powder, dried oregano, and paprika. Add the Rotel and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
  5. On a flat surface, unroll the puff pastry sheet and roll or press it into a large rectangle, approximately 18 inches long.
  6. Spread the cooked beef mixture evenly over the puff pastry. Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the top.
  7. Starting at the long edge closest to you, roll up the dough tightly, similar to a cinnamon bun. Seal the edge along the roll.
  8. Use a serrated knife to slice the roll into one-inch slices. Wipe the knife with a wet paper towel between cuts to prevent sticking.
  9. Place the pinwheel slices on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each.
  10. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the pinwheels are golden brown.
  11. Serve hot with your choice of optional garnishes.
